The loneliest road is the road where
not that you are alone
nor the road with no milestones
Neither is it the road barren and unforgiving
or where the end seems not to be in sight,
where one is lost, and no light.
The journeys of the world can be mapped and traced
Retraced, remembered, shared.
But the journey within is the one you travel by yourself,
You decide to undertake it or to let it go.
The self is stripped bare of all makeup,
The soul, raw and true, waits for you.
Do you recognise yourself here?
Is it the face you like or the one you fear?
There is peace to be found on this lonely path
No voices heard, no noise around
No borrowed skin, no masks found
And then you know who you really are
You find yourself
Reborn and at peace.
